We want to be safe

We all want to be safe, but it’s not possible all the time. Where you are now, feels safe only because it is familiar. You know everything about it. It holds no more surprises for you, that is why you are looking for change without even being aware that you are doing it.

As humans, we are caught between the urge to evolve and change our circumstances, and the appeal of comfort. In life, comfort is desired, but so is the lack of it, because too much comfort can become crippling. It can numb your desire to evolve.

Why would you even want to go somewhere new, that you know nothing about when you have everything that you need right here? You don’t have all that you need here, you wouldn’t feel this way if you did.

There is something inside that is asking you to move. No matter how hard you tried to ignore it, this voice is still present, and you know it speaks the truth.

Life doesn’t allow you to stay in the same place forever. When your mind stops evolving, it stops expanding. The mind doesn’t know how to remain unchanged. Your life is connected to the way you react to events that come your way. Some things will need to be accepted and others to be fought, but they will not be that easy to differentiate.

Don’t get complacent about the way things are, only because you are afraid to change. Change is unavoidable, so why not make it your choice? Nobody knows what they’re doing, it’s only that some of us are more confident than others when doing things.

Many of the things we do are scary, especially if it’s the first time we do them. Because we don’t want other people to know that we are like everybody else, and learn as we go, we try to project an image of confidence. Being confident and trying to appear confident are two different things, though.

Real confidence comes from experience and from understanding that most things need to be done even when there’s no clear image of the outcome they’ll produce. Fake confidence is used as a way to cover fear and insecurity, but it takes a lot of energy to keep up, and it usually works again you.

When faced with something that you have never done before, anxiety and fear are natural responses, but if you take some time to look at them, you’ll see that their purpose is to awaken your senses and conscience, not to freeze you in place.

What you do matters because every action moves you further down the path of your life. You are allowed to be afraid, but you are not allowed to get stuck in it forever.

Whatever comes your way, regardless of how afraid you are, there is always a choice you can make to be able to take the next step. It might not be the perfect way of action, but it will help you grow. Being stuck will just keep you the same while taking away your confidence.
