The parts that were lost

I feel like I’m moving through a haze, with no idea where I’m going. It’s strange, but I am not afraid. I’m still breathing and this is a good thing. Nothing that I desire would have any value if I stop breathing, but many times I forget it and focus on all I must obtain for me to be happy.

Following your dreams in life is a necessity, but you need not let them trap you on a mouse wheel. Nothing you do will hold any value if you don’t remember to be grateful for all that you already have, and for all the small achievements along the way.

Sometimes, the mind gets stuck on a task and ignores everything else, no matter how important those other things are. In these moments, taking a break is the best you can do. There’s a big chance it will provide enough clarity for you to analyze the circumstances you find yourself in, and see the bigger picture.

Dedication is mandatory when going after what you want in life, but you must not confuse it with stubbornness. From time to time, you must assess the results of what you are doing. If you find that they are not the ones you wanted, you must not be afraid to change course and try a different approach.

There is no guaranteed way of action that can turn dreams into reality because each of us has a specific way of doing this. Your job is to try and try again until you find what works for you. Once you are able to do that, the haze will lift and things will become clear.

Seeing through the mist created by all the lies you tell yourself, and all the noise created by the external world is not always an easy task. That is why so many of us are struggling. Not many people trust themselves enough to see their dreams as real things. This stops them from ever touching those dreams.

Each of us has entered this life complete and perfect, then we cut out parts of ourselves. This was done because of our environment, or through our own doing. As adults, we are trying to find again the parts that were lost.

There is no need to search for what you believe was lost. You are as complete as you need to be. You only covered who you are with who you thought you should be. We all do it, but it’s not a good thing.

Now it’s time to turn your attention inwards and try to peel away the layers covering your true self. This is a task that will take courage, patience, and forgiveness. It is only about you, and no one can help. All that you will find inside is yours, like it or not, and you will have to accept it as such.

For some of us, finding the person that we are means that we need to give up the person we built on top. Don’t worry, it’s alright to be frightened. Everything you know must be discarded. This does not mean you will be lost, it only means that you must shed the caterpillar to let the butterfly out.
