Solve your own problems

For such a long time you lived in a certain way, not questioning what you are doing, but being at peace with it. Lately, things are not the same. Here and there, questions pop inside your mind. They are not the easy kind, but rather the kind that keeps you awake at night, the kind that makes you doubt who you are.

The good part is that there’s nothing to fear, the bad part is that knowing this won’t stop you from being afraid. All these new questions you have are a sign that you have outgrown the current situation, and you need to move. The comfort you are unwilling to let go of comes from all the time you had to get accustomed to the current situation.

For what is new, the first instinct is to refuse it, but there is no way to freeze the flow of life. When you accept that life means movement, you will gain a new kind of clarity that lights up the path ahead. You will never be able to see too far into the future, but by asking the right questions you will see the next couple of steps.

Most of the time this will prove to be enough. Whenever you get confused again, remember that the clarity you seek comes from the questions you ask, the choices you make, and the actions you take.

Do you even know what you’re doing? It doesn’t look like it. You’ve been thrown into this life. Nobody asked if you wanted it. Now, what? Are you going to keep complaining forever? What good would that do?

You are here now, and there’s no other choice than to live every day as it comes. You might not like what you get. Who cares? No one else will solve your problems for you. The sooner you understand this, the better it will be for you. Start moving, but pay attention to the direction you choose because it might not be the right one for you. If that is the case, don’t be afraid to change it.

The only one responsible for where you end up in life is always you. You might argue that circumstances and luck had a role in how your life went, but you always had a choice. Even when it seems there is no choice, there’s always another way, but it scares you more than what you are trying to run from.

In your life, there will be moments when the choice you need to make asks for a big part of who you are. Now, it’s time to decide if the trade of is worth it. You also need to decide if what you need to give up is really part of you, or is just something you got accustomed to.

One thing is sure, you can’t freeze life to keep all that you value right now. Even if you could, would you want life to stay forever as it is now? Wouldn’t it be boring after some time?  In your heart, you know you need to move because life is movement. So, what are you waiting for?
