From now on

Right now, you feel powerless. Why is that? So, your life has been filled with difficulties and you feel this was not fair. You might be right. It is not fair, but why does it still matter if it was in the past? Right now, you are in a different place and it seems pretty good.

There is no right reason to carry with you forever whatever hurt you in life. You’ve been carrying so many things on your back for a long time. So long that you started to believe it is the only way to be. Well, it is not. Every minute you spend in the past is a minute lost from living life. The more time you live in the past the more you lose touch with what your life is.

What you can control is what happens from now on, everything else is already gone. The board has been cleared to make room for something new. The old experience lives only inside you, for as long as you hold on to it.

Why not choose what you hold on to? Your thoughts have no power if you only see them as thoughts, but you make the mistake of seeing them as something more. You are the one choosing which one to give power to.

As long as your energy goes toward something that can never exist again, there will not be enough of it left to feel the present moment. Just like trying to fill a bottomless bucket, it will never be enough to fill it with. Keep your attention on what is in front of you, so you don’t look for this later in life when you won’t be able to do anything about it.

There were many things that you wanted to do, but for some reason, you never did them, and you’ve been carrying that around for a long time. What’s the point of that? It’s not like you can go back in time and fix everything. You hanging on to something that no longer exists, can only become a source of regret.

From now on, your life can change, but for that to happen, you need to focus on what is, not on what was or what could be. You can only use what your life is right now. Everything else is out of your reach. All that happened in the past, must stay there, and all that will happen in the future can be influenced by what you do now.

So, learn to focus on what is, not on what is not. What you have is more important than what you don’t have. Both good and bad are present in every life, but what makes some lives better than others is where people choose to look, and what they choose to see.

What do you see in your life? What can you do with that? These are the most useful questions you can ask yourself because how you answer defines the direction of your life.

You can keep living life the same way you did up to this point, but you’re not allowed to blame anyone else for where you’ll end up. There’s only one person responsible for where you are now, and for where you will end up, and that is you. Focus on what is, and make the best of it.
