How is it that maturity has nothing to do with age, but it’s rather connected to transformations initiated by one person’s experiences? It might be an unpopular opinion, but you don’t get wiser with age. It is more about what you understand from the life you live.
Your experiences in everyday life, have lessons in them. Lessons that life is trying to teach you. But you only learn if you are willing to. Unfortunately, most of life’s lessons are not pleasant, so you will be tempted to refuse them. Don’t do that because it will slow down your evolution, and without evolution, you will always stay the same.
Keep your mind open, and be willing to learn in any situation, and from everybody. Don’t go about life thinking that you know everything, because you don’t, and you will never do. A better path is to make learning a common occurrence in your life. Learn from everyone and everything, regardless of age or experience.
Every person has a different perspective of what is happening, and they might see something that you are missing. When you dismiss that perspective, you are refusing to see a bigger image than the one you hold right now.
Don’t be afraid to be the most stupid person in the room. It might be embarrassing, but it is the best position to be in because it means you can learn a lot. If you keep your mind open, you’ll leave the room a better person.
You are not a mature person only because you aged. You are a mature person when you learn to act like it, and it takes time and effort. Does getting old mean anything to you? Do you feel any different?
You are different. Every new day you are different from the person you were yesterday, but it has nothing to do with your age. Age is not a definition of who you are. It does not guarantee your maturity, and it does not ensure that you learned enough from the years that passed.
Be as young as you feel inside, always, but make sure that you learn as much as you can from the years you live. Experience as much as you can. Don’t be afraid to feel, to love, don’t even be afraid to hurt. When you become clear on who you are, the passing of time will not frighten you anymore, because you’ll be focusing on what you are living.
The focus that you put on the life that you are living makes the passing of time irrelevant. When you enjoy today, even if you see it as a bad day, not even time can take that away from you. Life moves at a different pace for everyone, but you tend to have the same expectations from people who are the same age.
Your true age is decided by the life you have lived, not by the years you were alive. Being alive but avoiding life will make you feel older than you are, the same way embracing life will keep you young.
Time keeps moving, and at a certain point, your time will end, but it is your choice what you’ll do until that happens. Being young has nothing to do with time, it has everything to do with how you live.
